Fun in the Forest

It is a beautiful September day today, sunny and 75 degrees and we decided to take a little hike through the forest close to us. We literally have to walk like 5 blocks and we are on a path in the forest. John pushed Emilio in one jogging stroller and Gabi was in the other one with me behind and within minutes you can't hear any people, cars, etc. It is really fun to have something like that soooo close to us. We saw lots of ferns today. The first time we went on this hike we showed Emilio what a fern looks like and ever since he points out a fern anywhere he sees it. It is his fern fascination I guess. We also saw loads of big, fat slugs on the trail. We went on the longer hike today and found millions of blackberries just waiting for us to feast apon. I really want to go up there soon with buckets to get some more to freeze for the winter. We stood in the sun picking blackberries for 15 minutes. Gabi would open her little mouth like a baby bird waiting for me to pop the sweet juicy berries in. It was so cute. Gabi also took a little nap on our hike and you can see by the picture that she had also been snacking on chocolate Teddy Grahams during the hike because he face is covered in chocolate. We stopped by the park on the way home to play for a while and met a little boy around the corner who's name is Emilio of all names. It was funny hearing his older brother call his name and realizing what he was saying. WE haven't met another Emilio in person until now. On our way down the alley back to our house we saw three deer at the end of our block grazing in the grass. Emilio and I were able to get really close to them and take pictures. It was a super morning!

I love the pictures of the deer. That is so awesome that you guys are so close to the deer and to all the trails to hike!
