pucker up
Luci has finally figured out how to give a good smooch to all those she loves. We are so relieved that she puckers up like the rest of us now instead of giving us open mouth, slobbery licks anymore. What sweet kisses she plants on each of us.

we've got a walker
Luci turned 14 months old last Saturday. She has taken off with walking in the past two weeks. She's still quite wobbly, and looks like a mummy (both arms extended out in front and a wide stance) when she toddles around, but we think it is cute. I wouldn't say it is her favorite mode of transportation yet, but its getting there. She continues to be a very easy going baby, who loves to be social and say hi, and is trying out new words all the time. Her latest feat is pushing her riding toy past the lavender bushes swarming with bumblebees in our ally way saying, "Bee....owie....bee....owie." I've warned her about bees. She also tends to say "Owie" when her sister picks her up or bothers her. Luci has also mastered going up and down the stairs. She must have learned how to go down feet first from her big bro and sis because she does it like a pro. We are thoroughly enjoying this little angel, Luci June.

recital
On Saturday, Gabriela had her first dance recital. She did a great job performing on stage, and looked darling in her blue tutu. I have to say, as I was fixing her hair for the performance, I had a myriad of memories come back to me of all the dance recitals and competitions I did as a child. It must of been the smell of the hairspray, or the feel of the bobby pins as I attached the little blue flower to her hair, or the glare of the sequins that took me back there, but it was funny to think that I have a child who was old enough to start all of that, only if she really wants to of course. She seems to really like dancing, but I don't want her to feel pressured in any way about diving in solely to dance if it isn't "her thang." I do admire Gabi's tenacity and lack of inhibitions as she dances, at least, at this point in her little life. She is very confidant and doesn't seem to care too much about what others think. We were very proud of her!

Princess Party
On Saturday, our Gabriela Joy turned 4 years old! I remember the day she was born feeling SO blessed that I had been given a little girl (I already had a darling little boy). I called my mom from the hospital in Chicago and said, "I got my girl!!!" And who knew what a girly girl she would have turned out to be.
We had a Princess party Saturday afternoon with 8 other little girls, and baby sister (the boys went off to see the new Oceans movie). What a calm, quiet, sweet little party it was too. All of the girls came dressed in their fanciest gowns, and became princesses for the day. Gabi sat by the door for the arrival of each quest and would marvel at each girl's beauty as they came in. To her cousin she said, "Oooooh, Eloisa, you look so beautiful!." It was so cute. We gave each girl a crown, read this darling story, decorated their scepters with stickers, had a tea party (they loved pouring their cranberry blueberry juice, I mean tea, and ate pink chocolate covered pretzels and fruit), did some dancing and playing, watched Gabi open her gifts, and had cake and ice cream. It was a wonderful time! Besides the crown, and scepter, Gabi gave out party favors of personalized paper dolls (I had so much fun making these on my mom's Cricut a while back), Princess fruit snacks, and two crown hair clips. The girls were tickled with their treats. I think Gabriela had a very special 4 year old birthday!

Funny
Yesterday I heard Gabi crying and I shot a look over at Emilio.
Emilio: Don't look at me, I don't know why she's crying.
Me: I bet you do.
Emilio: Okay, okay, but the good news is, I didn't hurt her.
Me: So.....
Emilio: Well the bad news is, she wanted her Littlest Pet Shop monkey to marry my Littlest Pet Shop monkey, and I just don't want that.
They make me laugh out loud!

Disneyland 2010
We had such an amazing time in Disneyland this past week with John's parents. It was a great time of year weather wise and crowd wise to enjoy the Disney parks. The kids loved every minute of it, and well, so did I. Emilio was so brave and went on Space Mountain, the Matterhorn, Splash Mountain, and the Grizzly River Run over at CA Adventures. His favorites were the Matterhorn and the Soarin' over CA at CA Adventures. Gabi loved her lunch with the Princesses at Ariel's Grotto, meeting the fairies at Pixie Hollow, and going on It's a Small World, and The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. Luci was brave and went on many, many rides and just sat wide eyed at all the colorful things to see. She was a trooper on our long days full of fun! I was even brave and went on CA Screamin' Rollar Coaster and the Tower of Terror at CA Adventures. I loved a bunch of the rides, but my favorites were actually the shows we saw.....the Aladdin Musical, and the Pixar and Disneyland Celebrate Parades, as well as seeing Princess Tiana perform with the Jambalaya Band. The music and dancing were excellent. John loved ALL of the big rides, and so did Grandma and Grandpa. We are so thankful for the family vacation and memories we made altogether.
