healthy stuff
Our family is trying out something new this week in an effort to eat more organic produce and support local farms. We ordered a produce box from Full Circle Farms.
You can order a standard size box of organic fruits and veggies for $30 dollars or a Family size for $39. We are having ours delivered every other week, but you could do it each week as well. You can either have the farm deliver directly to your house (if you are in the delivery range for $4.00 extra) or have it delivered to a pickup site. The prices seem pretty reasonable considering this is organic food that usually costs a lot more in the grocery stores.
Also, you can exempt items that you never want in your box...ie; eggplant or something. The farm website gives everyone a few days before each order to change out items you don't want for some you do. We received our first box this morning and it is full of beautiful fruits and veggies!!! If you are in the greater Seattle area, try it out, you can cancel at any time.
Our box included: a head of lettuce, broccolini, 5 pears, 6 apples, 6 oranges, 3 grapefruits, 3 red peppers, cremini mushrooms, red fingerling potatoes, parsnips, 2 red onions, and a bunch of orange carrots.

It was so much fun to look out our front door this morning and find a box full of goodies like this. The farm even included some new recipes to use with some of the items they put in the box for us. We are excited to eat all the deliciousness in our box!

Already?
Luciana is 10 months old today!!! I keep telling her to slow down, but she keeps growing and changing.
Some of my new tricks include: growing a tooth this week (finally!!!), pulling up on everything, saying bye bye, baby, hiya, mama, dada, and ball, signing "more" and "all done," picking up every piece of lint, dried up food, and dirt in every little nook and cranny in the house and eating it, rolling away and protesting when mommy is trying to change me, rocking a baby doll and my beloved blankie, and sometimes I blow kisses or give big slobbery ones if you are lucky.

Another world
Whenever Emilio talks about his sets of grandparents, he refers to them as living in "another world." This is because both sets live in different states, and no matter how often we remind him they are called, "states," he still likes to say, "in your world Grandpa, or your world Nana." So, we visited another "world" last weekend. We headed down to Portland on Friday to spend the holiday weekend with my parents. John went on a backpacking trip with a buddy, so we knew he'd be off having his own fun adventure.
The kids enjoyed playing with my Mom's daycare children, and we took a walk to the neighborhood park together.

On Friday night a small group of friends that I grew up with and whom I've reconnected with on Facebook came over for a girls night. Several of the girls are my close friends, but a few others I hadn't seen in a really long time. We had a great time catching up.

We got together with extended family on Saturday night for some rounds of Hand and Foot, and also taught everyone how to play Just Dance on the Wii. We had so much fun, and my Grandma got a kick out of watching us all shake it for the dance game.
On Sunday, the older kids got to go to a friend's birthday party at a bowling alley. It was their first time bowling (besides the Wii). They didn't have a ton of power to get the ball down the lane, so it was quite comical most of the time, but they had fun.

We spent quality time Nonno and Nanna and Uncle Andrew and Aunt Karen Rose over the weekend.
Luci's first magic carpet ride from Nonno.
I got to catch up with my friend Tessa and her girls, and I got to take a Zumba class with my mom at her gym. Was that ever fun? I think I found something I want to pursue in the future....teaching Zumba!
Anyway, it was a great trip as always.

Play-Dough
Last week the kids and I made home made sparkly play dough together. They thought it was so cool. I swear we had done it before, but maybe they hadn't remembered. Anyway, it entertained them for quite a while with all their dough art tools.

Play Dough Recipe
1 c. flour
1/2 c. salt
2 T. cream of tartar
1 c. water
Put together on the stove top and turn with a wooden spoon until it gets dough-y. Add food coloring before or after. You can also add peppermint or orange extract to help the smell of the dough. We kneaded glitter into the dough afterwards.

Rub-a-dub-dub.......
Three kids in the tub!

My kiddos received these darling hooded towels from our sweet friend Laurie for Christmas. I just love them, they are not only big and comfy, but look adorable on them. We already have a flower and a lion one, but we were so happy to add butterfly, princess and baseball themed ones to our rotation for bath time. You can get them at Kohls.

De-cluttering/Baby Update
I know, I know, it is so out of character for me to go this long without posting something, but we've been busy. Call it Purge Month or Spring Cleaning, but we've been trying to get things in order around here. I think it starts with the kids getting all sorts of new toys for Christmas and needing a place to put them, and then it continues when you take down the Christmas decor and sense a yearning for a clean, uncluttered house. Anyway, whatever it may be that causes it, both John and I have been attacking our house as of late. He has turned the garage upside down once again (he feels he does this every 3 months or so). He's added new shelving, organized all the riding toys, strollers, etc, cleaned up the kids (and my own) art supplies, added some space for pantry overflow (I have a very tiny pantry in this house). I'm so proud of him, and the garage looks AWESOME! Plus, we can park both cars in there which is always a plus.
I've been junking out of the kids closets. I managed to make 2 boxes and 2 bags full of toys/clothes, etc that we donated to my mom's daycare and a family friend's garage sale. AND, here's the kicker, the kids haven't even asked about all those items that I stuffed in there. Plus, the kids at my mom's house have been having so much fun with the new toys she was able to introduce to them. I wonder though, if my kiddos will recognize those long lost treasures when we go for a visit sometime? So, all this cleaning and organizing and purging has made for little time and energy to blog. You all understand right?
In other news, our Luci June continues to grow and reach milestones. She is still army crawling everywhere, particularly quickly I might add. She is now also pulling up on everything to standing position. She thinks she is hot stuff conquering this new feat. It is a whole new perspective at that level. She's saying ball (her favorite toy), bye bye, mama, dada, and hi. She is starting to sign "more" as well, and giving nice slobbery open mouth kisses. She eats everything (beans, avocado, cucumber, pears, apples, squash, sweet potatoes, bread, noodles, brown rice, etc) we give her with a lot of passion, smacking her little lips with each morsel. She still however doesn't own any pearly whites, so she eats solely by mashing everything with her gums. She is still an angel baby sleeping from 8 to 8, and taking her naps during the day (although she's so flexible with our wacky schedule, usually missing her morning nap because are out and about). Oh, and get this, she's my pipsqueak. We just had her 9 month appointment and she was only in the 55% for weight. Isn't that unbelievable considering my other two were always way higher on the percentile range? Anyway, she's healthy and that is a blessing. We just think lil' Luci is a doll!
