Baby Model

I don't think I got to tell many people about this yet. Back in May I was at Safeway and noticed an announcement on one of those papers they print out after your receipt (usually they are coupons) for a baby contest. The contest was run by the O Organics brand at Safeway all around the country and they were looking for a new baby face to put on their boxes. To enter I had to enter my child's name on the computer (no photo) and then they were pulling names at random for a photo shoot. Well, Gabi got chosen for the photo shoot for WA up at a Kirkland Safeway store (Smith's to those of you in ABQ, Dominicks to those in Chicago, and other various names around the country). Gabi's cousin Marco was originally chosen as an alternate, but was then called to come to the photo shoot. So we trekked up to Kirkland with the three kids and my cousin Miriam who was visiting from Philly (boy, was she a help, especially with Emilio). Marco and Gabi were both getting photos for the Toddler section of the contest. The shoots were hard work, but fun too as we got to see lots of little ones and the store provided O Organic snacks during our waiting time, and gave us all a rose and a gift basket of O Organic baby and toddler foods (worth $50 bucks) for our participation. It was a fun experience. A few weeks later they sent us a photo and magnet for the fridge. Well, in July we got word that Gabriela was the toddler winner for Washington and one of 22 Regional winners in the country. We received $1000 dollars in Safeway gift cards! She didn't end up being one of the 2 National winners (they recieved the exact same prize, but also get to be on the boxes), but it was so cool anyhow. John said to her, "hello little breadwinner," on the night we found out she won. We are sure that she won because she's got this cute chubby face and it is very apparent that she loves to eat! :) We were very excited and have loved the help with groceries she has given us through winning. Yeah Gabi!
