Rose Parade
We kept up the annual event (this was the third time around for our kiddos)of attending Portland's Grand Floral Rose Festival Parade this past Saturday. My die hard mom and dad got up at 5 a.m. and went down to the parade site to stake out great front row seats on the street for us. We made it down by 8 a.m. with all the kids (my three, and my bro's two). We enjoyed breakfast burritos (made the night before New Mexican style with eggs, turkey bacon, cheese, potatoes, and green chiles), fruit and Starbucks drinks while we waited. It was a little colder and mistier that we had imagined whilst packing a few days earlier (we had 90 degree heat, and didn't realize it was going to change so drastically), but we managed to scrounge up some long pants and sweatshirts for the kids. The anticipation of the parade was almost more fun than the parade itself. It is so fun to be able to let the kids play in the street, collect freebies by passer-byers, pick up change being thrown out randomly, and eat lots of fun treats packed by Nana herself. Once the parade started though, the kids were GLUED. They all loved it (okay, maybe not Luci, she slept through the majority of the parade), but Emilio danced to the bands, Gabi commented about the beautiful horses and princesses, Marco liked the music and clowns, and Eloisa took in all the colors and noises too. It was a fantastic morning.
