Toddler Two Step
For the next three Mondays we have Toddler Two Step (a dance class for 2 and 3 year olds) down at the Community Center. We went for our first class today and I found it fun, and hilarious at times. My kids walked in to the dance studio with floor to ceiling mirrors on one side and delighted in seeing themselves. All of the other children and parents were patiently sitting on the opposite wall waiting for class to start, but not my kiddos. Gabi and Emilio started busting out with their creative moves with smiles plastered on their faces. Gabi proceeded to shake her behind and announce to everyone, "I shaking my booty." She got several smiles from onlookers, giggles and I received a few looks from parents as well, not exactly sure if they were happy with my child's exhibition. The class consisted of using creative movement to different styles of music in a circle often using props such as streamers, instruments, scarves, etc. Apparently Gabi thought herself the star because she claimed the middle of the circle as her dancing zone. She loved it. Emilio seemed to enjoy the class too until he got unwanted attention or too much praise from me and then he'd sulk and say he didn't want to dance with the star streamers. Whatever. Marco, my nephew was also there and he definitely used this class time to slowly warm up to the new environment. He refused to hold most of the props until he decided his streamers would make a good golf club and he got a kick out of swinging the prop and banging it against the floor. My brother would be so proud of his little athlete! Anyway, it was a fun Monday activity and we all look forward to next week.
