Independence Day

John's parents spent the 4th with us and we had a nice day altogether. We trekked out in the morning to the Kabuto Gardens in Seattle for a geocache. It was the perfect geocache for the kids as the terrain was easy and interesting to look at. One of the highlights while we were looking for the treasure was seeing a mother duck and her five fuzzy little ducklings cross our path and go swimming in the small nearby pond. We were all enthralled, especially the kids and I. Emilio and Gabi kept busy while we were collecting clues finding rocks and sticks to carry around. There were many cool plants, ponds, waterfalls, little passageways around the park. We finally found the treasure box and the kids had a great time choosing what they would take from the box. Gabi chose a small stuffed puppy and Emilio chose a plastic penguin that was deemed a Travel Bug(we were able to look up on the Internet where he has traveled already including Iowa, Oregon and Washington and we plan to take him to a new state, Idaho soon to give to another geocache box). We put a jelly bean pooping cow toy, pirate and butterfly tattoos, and a blue plastic butterfly in the geocache as a trade, and wrote in the log book.
We had a very fun morning and then went out to Q'doba for lunch afterwards.








Later in the day we worked on staining a kids table set that I bought from Ikea (Gabi is getting too big for her high chair). We stained the table green, one chair red and the other blue. It looks pretty darn cool.
We also made some fun salads to go with our grilled steak dinner and an angel food dessert. After dinner we headed outside to hang with all our neighbors. We had a nice time visiting and watching fireworks. On the hill behind our alley way you could see fireworks going off all over in the different burbs around us and all the way to Seattle, it was magnificent. What a fun filled day!
