Volcanoes

One of Emilio's favorite new things about being in kindergarten is being able to check out a library book each week.  To tell you the truth, I'm not sure why he thinks it is so cool?  I mean it isn't like we don't go to the library every 3 weeks and gather enough books to fill a large plastic crate (we like variety, okay?).  I guess they have just built it up so much at school that he thinks it is cool.  After all, they didn't let them start checking out books until January.  They spent the first several months going over book etiquette; how to turn the pages, protect your books from younger siblings, etc, etc.  Anyway, Emilio happily brings home a non-fiction (he's such a little scientist) every week, and has us read it to him.  This week he brought home a book all about volcanoes, and at the end it showed you how to make a mini volcano.  Emilio begged for us to make them before he had to turn the book in today.  So, after dinner last night, we gathered the supplies, and made volcanoes, Emilio and Daddy made one, and Gabi and I made the other.  They liked building the volcanoes up with homemade play dough, and liked seeing them explode, although as you all know, the vinegar and baking soda explosions are quite anti climatic.  It was nice though, to do a little science experiment altogether.
