a 5 year old author and illustrator

Yesterday in the car Emilio couldn't stop talking about the idea of what he'd do if he had a robot in his life. I suggested he write all his thoughts in story form. He came home and anxiously set to work illustrating each page of his book, and dictating to me what he wanted his story to say. I think it turned out wonderfully! He's very proud to show it off.

If I had a robot.... by Emilio.

baby in a box

Despite the look of this, the kids aren't actually sending their baby sister off in the mail. They do love her to pieces, but also love the fact that she is little and they can stuff her in a box and give her rides.

Luci doesn't seem to mind the tight quarters either.

Nice Weather

I understand this post may make some of you jealous of the gorgeous weather we have had this February. I understand that you may be getting record cold temps and snow, and these pictures could possible rub you the wrong way. Please forgive us for our sunny February, and the fact that our tulips and daffodils are starting to push up through the soil showing us signs of Spring around the corner. It'll come for you soon, I hope. And, we have had rain since Wednesday, so we aren't perfect over here in the NW.
Anyway, we've had lots of sunny, crisp days to get outside and play lately, which we are very thankful for and don't take for granted.

Mission Accomplished, Finally

So, I finally got around to finishing the cross stitch announcement for Luci the other day. I wrote about this back in November. I ended up never getting around to it, until a really close friend had a baby, and that put a small fire under my toosh. Here is Luci's finished announcement.

And here is the one I finished for my friend's son,

I also ended up doing some fun iron-ons that I found at Joann Fabrics on some plain white onesies. They were easy and turned out pretty cute.

my little talker

Luci is beating her bro and sis in the speaking milestones, and I considered them pretty verbal at young ages. But Luci, seems to be taking all the chattering in around her and producing quite a few words for a 10 month old.

She's saying.......
Mama
Dada
baby - for baby and Gabi
Bo Bo = Boo Boo
Hiya = Hi
Bye Bye
Mo = more
ball

She's signing......
more
please
all done
and possibly milk, it looks kind of like all done though.

Her new favorite trick is throwing her hands up above her head when we say, "How big is Luci?" She's very proud of herself, and so are we. She gets lots of praise and applause!

Looks like I might have another little chatterbox on my hands.

Handy Daddy

The other weekend John decided to make the kids an easel with scrap wood he had lying around. He really is quite handy, he looked at one picture of an easel online and then went to work designing the art stand for the kids. It is awesome, and the kids are so pleased with their "weasel" as they like to call it.

Our kids love to create!

Sunny February

It is a beautiful, sunny day here in the Pacific Northwest. We don't even really need coats, just a sweatshirt will do. Emilio and Gabi and I soaked up some rays before rest time today. We played chase, rode scooters, went on an investigation (instigated by my little 5 year old scientist of course), kicked the soccer ball around, and made some lovely sidewalk chalk art.
